Raffia Joe Testimonials
My eight month old Peke-a-Poo recently graduated from Club K9 Boot Camp. While it was difficult to be without him for two weeks, the emotional sacrifice was worth the effort!
I wanted my dog to be trained and obedient, but I was concerned that my sweet, cuddly, playful, comical baby would come back somewhat militant and reserved. That’s far from the truth! Not only is his personality still intact, he now has what I like to call “puppy manners”.
Even though Raffie Jo is a friendly, relatively calm dog, he lacked discipline and I lacked the knowledge to teach him correctly. What this meant for me was that I was unable to take him all the places I wanted to take him. Even though we have a strong bond, I did not have his respect as the Alpha leader.
I was totally blown away to see the transformation you accomplished in just two weeks. Before Club K9 boot camp, it would take forever to get RJ to potty completely outside, he would dart out an open door and not come back when called and was just generally disobedient. I could not believe my eyes the first time I saw my adorable puppy go in the Down command and stay until the command was released!
He’s been home about 3 weeks now and as you know, the training continues and is a work in progress. I knew I didn’t have the ability to train him so it was pleasant to send RJ away for two weeks and have him come back correctly trained. We are now in the home follow-up phase of boot camp. Honestly, you should just call it “Mommy Boot Camp” because I am now the one in training! I can’t believe how much I have learned in our few sessions about the relationship between humans and canines. It is also benefitting me to learn the things I need to do to enforce my Alpha position. This knowledge will allow me to continue working with Raffie Jo even after our sessions are done. Understanding how dogs think and how they view their owners as their Alpha pack leader will hopefully help me teach him additional commands and “tricks” on my own.
I think one of the things I appreciate most about the Club K9 Boot Camp experience is the closer bond I now have with RJ. Not only does he bring me so much joy and companionship, he shows me more respect and submission. I have always enjoyed our cuddle time together, but now I also look forward to the two of us working on new commands together. My biggest pride, though, is having him show someone his commands so I can say, “That’s how much my puppy loves me!”
Thank you again for all your hard work and efforts. You’re the best!
